#271: Reii / Drafts
M3U FMP3  Tracks : 8

After his first successful release on Kahvi back at #246, Reii returns with a different mood (and style), different pace and different style entirely.

I guess the best way of describing 'Drafts' is 'epic ambient'. Subtle moods and blending sounds throughout this delight in the shape of a 8 track ep, gives Reii some space to play with long drawn out passages of colour and texture.

While away the hours, the tracks fading into each other, you don't even notice when the end is reached and the beginning has started. Listen and dream.

Tracks of choice: Air station, Rain machine.

Lots of sound effects and field recordings, sweeping pads and sounds, big reverbs and delays... reminds me of Secede's (Sending Orbs) music. Pretty nice actually...

There's never been such a release on kahvi before. You're composing tales, not just music. The only pity is - it ends so fast. But one can see, what did you feel composing those tunes. This release should be your ticket to heaven.

That's no small praise coming from one of the masters of ambient himself -- just look at all the positive reviews for Ambientium's release here on Kahvi! And he's right . . . Reii has a truly stunning work here. Lush waves, tones, dreams, and moods sweep the listener from start to finish.

I'm a huge fan of Reii's other release, "We Fade Away," and this is another exquisite jewel. Reii pushes the musical envelope once more, stretching in a slightly different direction, but still just as compelling and evocative as WFA.

Favorite tracks: "Rain machine" and "Away" -- the latter is a gently-swirling electronic sea, like a glimpse of some far-off deep alien ocean.

W O W !!!! I'm becoming a die hard fan of Reii!! This is absolutely stunning release, a pure essence of ambient music. I would compare this to Circular's Substans, and with all respect I have to Circular (my favorite release on Ultimae this year), this is a lot better. I will spend many beautiful evenings with this release! Reii, thanks for this and big respect! This is really THE ART.

I am on my 3rd listen through the EP and I can safely say that I have been waiting for an album of this caliber for quite a while. Reii plays on rich and beautiful soundscapes, coupled with crisp and effective sounds that leave something for the imagination to envelope itself in. Truly a beautiful work of art by an up and coming Kahvi legend.

I just popped in for a few seconds to see the snowflakes and the insanely-cute little Chrismas tree. Don't change, Kahvi, you're just perfect the way you are.
